It was released on July 20, 1987, in the UK to promote the film of the same name. It also contains songs by\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eScritti Politti\u003c\/strong\u003e,\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDuncan Faure\u003c\/strong\u003e,\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eClub Nouveau\u003c\/strong\u003e,\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCoati Mundi\u003c\/strong\u003e, and\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eMichael Davidson\u003c\/strong\u003e. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMadonna began working on the soundtrack in December 1986, and contacted\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePatrick Leonard\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eand\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eStephen Bray\u003c\/strong\u003e, who had worked as producers on her third studio album\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eTrue Blue\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e(1986). She felt that an uptempo song and a downtempo song were needed for the album. Leonard composed the music for the uptempo song, with Madonna providing the melody and lyrics. The singer named the track \u003cem\u003eWho's That Girl\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eand, believing this to be a better title than\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eSlammer\u003c\/em\u003e, changed the name of the film to the same.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTogether, Madonna and Leonard also developed the downtempo ballad \u003cem\u003eThe Look of Love\u003c\/em\u003e.
